Game
Mahjong solitaire
Clear the board by matching pairs of identical tiles. A tile can be picked only if nothing sits on top of it and its left or right side is open. Every board can be solved.
How to play mahjong solitaire
- Tap a tile to select it, then tap a matching tile to remove the pair.
- A tile is free when no tile is stacked on top of it and it has an open side on the left or the right. Locked tiles look the same, so look at the edges.
- Clear every tile to win. If no free pairs are left, undo a few moves and try a different pair.
- Today's board is the same for everyone and changes at midnight. Your best time is saved on this device.
Tips
- Work on the tall stacks first. Tiles buried under several layers are the ones that get you stuck.
- When three of a kind are free, think before you match. Keep the one that frees more tiles.
- Clear tiles at the ends of long rows. They open up the row for everything behind them.
Mahjong solitaire is a matching game that borrows the tiles. It doesn't follow the rules of the four-player game. Learn those in how to play American mahjong, or practise naming the tiles with the tile quiz.
